Comment:

 Sounds worth letting people know about this to me.  Do you think a log
 message would actually do much good here?  I guess we could try.

 One easy way to tell that we're new is when we generate an identity key
 for the first time.  Are there other ways?  Doing it every time we start
 up for the first month would be interesting, but I don't know if we have
 that information now.
