Comment:

I just spent a few minutes learning a little bit about EMET, but there is
a lot to learn. The following issue report (which I found via an Internet
 search) might be helpful:

 https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/10583

Some thoughts after reading that ticket:

 - It might take a lot of effort for Tor developers to determine why EMET
detects a problem. It might be a real problem, or just an incompatibility
between Tor Browser and EMET's checks.

 - It sounds like VLC is also built with MinGW-w64, which probably explains
why Mozilla's Firefox is not affected by this problem.

 - Since the Tor Browser executable has the same name as Firefox's
(firefox.exe), I wonder if the rules that Microsoft applies to Firefox are
also applied to Tor Browser (not necessarily a good thing since we cross
compile and Mozilla uses MSVC). Of course I do not know if Microsoft has
special rules for Firefox, but it sounds like they do for VLC so it is
 certainly possible.
