 uptime you could display a negative cross (the opposite of the tick sign

 Sure. That could work!

 However, it doesn't make it entirely clear if the bridge is down or an
 internal error happened. You could explain that in the tooltip, or be more
 funky and display a "power signal" or a "dead skull" or something else
 that denotes that an entity is down or dead.
