 The latter, although it is not a mingw issue according to one of the devs
 but a problem on our side which I think we should figure out (I plan to do
 so at least).

 The former. I thought it would be a good conservative approach to not
 introduce more issues than necessary although in theory the latest
 versions of both should do it as well.
