Comment (by proper):

 Sounds very good. So once the environment variable "TOR_SKIP_LAUNCH=1" is
 set, user's won't get any bad consequences (apart from a few MB more disk
 space). And I quite certain, only the standalone one will be accepted in
 Debian's repository.
