 > Not sure if this was the question, but I can imagine use cases for doing
searches by CIDR block of any size. Most likely, people would ask for
something smaller than /24, but I wouldn't say that /16, /8, or even
bigger would be too big for a search. Compare this for people wanting to
search for nicknames containing the letter "u" (as in "Unnamed") or for
fingerprints starting with "f", which all return pretty large result sets,
 too.

 That's a good point - noted.

 > Without going too much into implementation details, you may want to
consider a different data format for storing and searching IP addresses
than dotted-quad notation strings. IP addresses are just numbers, and if
people want to search for a range of numbers, there are easier ways to
express that than a string that was designed to be easily memorable by
humans. (Not saying that I did a smarter thing with current Onionoo, but
hey, no reason you cannot learn from my mistakes. ;))

I'm keeping this in mind :) Originally I tried focusing on solving the
scaling trouble in other places, but it should be possible to migrate to a
different IP address format in the tables. You're right, doing search on
what would really be integer ranges makes a lot of sense.

More related to the ticket at hand: I added an ExoneraTor / CIDR-like
search note to a short list of the searchable archive's usage examples:
