 Oh. I kinda hoped it would be possible to distinguish sockstat not having
 any tor entries and sockstat completely failing... but I guess what you do
 is parsing the output, so it could also be seen as a parsing failure :/

 Only other thing I can think of is asking tor for the current connection
 count over the control connection, and if it's 0 then don't bother polling
 the system. But that hinges on there being an API like that.
