 See #8401 for Mozilla's official build setup according to
 about:buildconfig. They are still using the 10.6 SDK. The crash could be
 from a couple of things I have fixed recently, but if it is still
 happening with the latest origin/maint-2.4, then it's probably a toolchain
 problem.

 The homepage issue could be a pref bug. It can happen if you're still
 using socks autoport, or if you changed your socks prefs from the default
 9151.
