 When setting up Vidalia to act as a node, my experience has been that
 people aren't always sure whether to be a bridge or a middle relay.
 Unfortunately, they *also* aren't always sure what their internet speed
 is. Detecting speed and then making a recommendation (or making a default
 selection based on speed), could improve network performance and usability
 without the decreases in anonymity posed by Snader (2008).

 (This could be perhaps considered a corollary to #9323, where contributor
 uncertainty could be solved with semi-dynamic node type selection).
