Comment(by bastik):

 Alright, I plotted the graphs (R did), which worked like a charm, because
 it was semi-automated. Then I used ImageJ with the Vischeck plugin to
 create simulations for Deuteranope, Protanope, Tritanope of versions-all
 and versions-2012 for all color sets. This took longer because I did this
 manually as I found no way to automate this.

 Now I got 12 graphs for each set, with the exception of "Greys" which are
 just 9. Well grey is good for anyone. I guess I can sort this one out. I
 tarballed the graphs (11 MB). Anyone interested in looking at them? (I'd
 like to not waste space here)

 My plan was and still is to rate versions-all, versions-2012 and the
 simulations of them with 5 (best) to 1 (worst) in terms of how
 distinguishable they are. I have to see if I'm any good at this.

 Pastel1 might not be appealing because of the colors them self, but in
 terms of telling them apart it is quite good.

 Don't expect me to get wise soon. No time critical task and what's used is
 good enough to satisfy most people, I guess.
