 when upstream cooperates there will be no need to modify that file. Could
 be solved with a environment variable, marker file or so.

 started out making trying to modify start-tor-browser with a bunch of grep
 and sed, but it got really hacky..." - same here. The required changes
 could be up streamed with if - then.

 I believe if there is a profile error in
 https://github.com/micahflee/torbrowser/blob/master/start-tor-browser it
 can be fixed see:
