 We've started working on this at https://github.com/micahflee/https-
 everywhere/tree/fix-stable and https://github.com/diracdeltas/https-
 everywhere/tree/fix-stable.

 We are detecting whether a profile used to be on the stable channel by
 looking for the "experimental_feature_cohorts" preferences. AFAIK, this
 variable was only set in stable releases after October 2012 (but never
 made it into development releases).
