 Also, your description above is possibly inaccurate? I just tried both
 upper and lowercase for ns/id/* and md/id/*, and both worked.  The only
 thing I can see that doesn't work is providing the $ to ns/id/* .  If you
 find that there really is a difference between upper and lowercase, could
 you please attach a command log so I can try to reproduce it?

 There's a fix for the $ thing in branch "bug7059" of my public repository;
 please test and review if possible?
