Comment:

 Please review branch 2988_more in my public repository.  It cuts down the
 OS version and machine info, and drops the git-X stuff.  To make packagers
 happy, it has the ability to add a revision value by setting the
 "TOR_BUILD_TAG" preprocessor variable.

 It's always-on, since if it were an option, anybody who's security-
 conscious enough to set it would probably be exactly the kind of person
 who wouldn't need it.

 Weasel, is that a reasonable approach for you?
