 (FWIW, this could IMO go into 0.2.4.1-alpha as easily as 0.2.3.x-rc, since
 authorities tend to go bleeding-edge.  Since we can't merge it until the
 bwauths support it, I don't want to defer 0.2.3.x until that's ready.)
