Comment:

 I am still not seeing how it is a bug in Tor not to discard extra bytes in
 SOCKS; the bug was, I think, in 0.2.2.x, where we allowed nonconformat
 SOCKS implementations to work anyway if they sent their extra junk with
 the right timing.

 What do you mean by "Throw general failure?"  It sounds like you want some
 other error reporting that would have been more helpful?
