Comment(by dtauerbach):

 This is necessary so that I can gain push access to our EFF git repo
 ssh://git@git-rw.torproject.org/https-everywhere.git, which is being
 hosted by the Tor project. I need this access to be able to make HTTPS
 Everywhere releases.
