 From this graph, it looks like the patch basically has no (broad-scale
 performance) effect. Which is plausible too.

 Agreed, they weren't useful -- I'm hoping to examine each individual
 client and see if one stops fetching stuff partway through the experiment.
 (There's now an email thread exploring how to fix shadow's handling of
 logs. Fun.)
