Comment:

 Hm, I don't think this is that similar to the new GUI, but either way,
 making the one window that's suppose to be open all the time be the
 configuration window (even with a status tab) doesn't seem like the best
 idea in terms of usability. Yes, you won't have to make two more clicks to
 get to the configuration, but your configuration shouldn't change that
 often, and this is probably more error prone for most regular users.
