 With history I meant that in the output of "svn log" command the only data
 about each commit's author is his/her nickname.
 In Git, the author must specify a full name and an email address ("Your
 Name <you at mail.com>").
 Since the repo migration also includes repo history (a.k.a logs), your
 commits, along with everybody else's will not show up with the
 corresponding nicknames only, but with their fullname and email.

 So the question rephrased would be: would you like your commits to appear
 with author info = "Matt Edman <edmanm at vidalia-project.net>"?
