#3341: Misleading text "Tor blocks some outgoing mail and file sharing
applications by default to reduce spam and other abuse"

Comment(by chiiph):

I can't find any good reason not to remove that text. May be saying less
here will lead more users to don't feel safe enough and actually read/ask
about what being a relay really is.

Regarding the "All other services": that checkbox operates like this: if
unchecked then add reject *:* at the end. So if we want to be accurate, we
should say "All other services, except those rejected in the default
policy". So I think it's confusing either way.
I find this quite similar to all those signs about "if you want real
anonymity, learn all about what you should do if you want to do it right",
so may be we should start adding signs about "if you want to contribute to
anonymity, learn all about what you should do if you want to help",
instead of crafting a GUI to prevent the user to make the wrong clicks.

I don't feel entirely comfortable with making this part of Vidalia so user
friendly, because it leads to all this confusion because someone typed
things this or that way and one or a lot of users missunderstood it.
If we set that part to be a nice and usable way of specifying
accept/reject HOST[MASK][:PORT] (without any layers of GUI abstractions),
with a nice big sign "Beware of what you do here. Please read this and
that before doing anything, or come to #tor at OFTC and ask about it", then
we might get more users interested in what it is all that about.
