 The manual page's description of HSAuthoritativeDir does not specify:

  * what hidden service descriptor versions such a directory will
 authoritate,
  * what versions of Tor produce such descriptors, or
  * what versions of Tor consume such descriptors.

 It should specify all of those facts (until we're ready to stop
 documenting the HSAuthoritativeDir option and/or remove it from the Tor
 sources).
