 I blindly applied the patches in,

 And built,
 https://paganini.erinn.org/~arlolra/tor-messenger/tor-messenger-0.2.0b2
 -osx-x86_64-59e68f.dmg

 which seems to fix the issue for us as well.  Thanks Kathy; thanks Mark.

 Awaiting review to consider the matter resolved though.
