Comment (by teor):

The previous log entry matches what I see when I execute `kill -KILL <tor-
browser-firefox-pid>` or `killall -KILL firefox` in the Terminal.

In your initial bug report, it looks like you actually started Tor Browser
(firefox) in the Terminal, not tor. If the tor process was being killed,
you would be getting a very different error, and Tor Browser would tell
you that the tor process had died.

How much of the Tor Browser GUI do you see?
Do you see the progress bar "Connecting to the Tor network"?
Does it always get killed at the same point?

It looks like a running process or cron job is killing Tor Browser once it
 starts up.
Do you have any other non-standard LaunchAgents, LaunchDaemons, Startup
Items, cron jobs, scheduled tasks, or security software?

We can try to identify the process using the following steps, but they
become increasingly intrusive. '''Please take a backup.'''

Have you tried installing and running the Firefox browser? (To see if it
 gets killed too.)

Does the Safari browser work for you without getting killed?

Do any other processes get killed? (Search your system log for "Service
 exited due to signal")

Have you tried restarting your machine?

Have you tried restarting it in OS X safe mode? See
 https://support.apple.com/kb/PH18760
This article is not available via Tor, as Apple support blocks all Tor
relay IPs, so I will put a copy of it here:
   1. Choose Apple menu > Shut Down.
   2. After your Mac shuts down, wait 10 seconds, then press the power
 button.
   3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key.
   4. You should press the Shift key as soon as possible after you hear the
 startup tone, but not before.
   5. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress
 indicator.
   6. To leave safe mode, restart your Mac again, but don’t hold down any
 keys during startup.

Have you tried deleting and reinstalling your Tor Browser app? (This will
 delete any bookmarks etc.)

Have you tried a fresh install of OS X, with Tor Browser being the first
 thing you install?
