 there are no diagnostic reports with fitting time stamps in either of the
 folders.

 the following lines are added to system.log after launching tor browser:

 Sep  8 09:09:42 MAC20100 kernel[0]: firefox (map: 0xffffff8049aa9e10)
 triggered DYLD shared region unnest for map: 0xffffff8049aa9e10, region
 0x7fff96e00000->0x7fff97000000. While not abnormal for debuggers, this
 increases system memory footprint until the target exits.
 Sep  8 09:09:42 MAC20100 com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (org.mozilla.tor
 browser.77564[782]): Service exited due to signal: Killed: 9

 I've also managed to unistall sophos, but problem persists.
