We didn't update it anymore since MaxMind changed access to their GeoLite2 databases: https://blog.maxmind.com/2019/12/18/significant-changes-to-accessing-and-using-geolite2-databases/ We're still looking for an alternative here: https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/metrics/trac/-/issues/32978 In fact, I have been working on comparing another alternative in the past few days and will post some preliminary results to the tor-relays@ mailing list later today. Unfortunately, that database is rather weak with respect to AS numbers and names. This might change in the future, though. We'll see. > Thank You All the best, Karsten -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Only for situations where we distribute it are there issues. 6 months is a long time, that's probably going to impact the network health and bad relays people. I've been working with the new system for getting the GeoLite database, and all it requires is to sign up for an account and verify an email address. Then you can just download the zip file as normal. If you include an API key in the URL, you can wget it on the host directly. Thanks, Iain. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I'm also using GeoLite2 for the comparison to the new database, and continuing with MaxMind at least for Onionoo would solve a bunch of problems. I'll take a look into any possible legal trouble that this could mean for Tor. This would be just for Onionoo (and Relay Search using Onionoo data). We'll still have to find an alternative for the geoip* files distributed with Tor itself. I hope that we can use the alternative I have been working on in the past couple days.
