 Hmm, now I'm confused. In my comment 22 above I'm basically saying we
 should store what we get. So, I'd say leave out the `getCompressionType()`
 method and store in memory whatever is on disk. (Sorry, gotta run now,
 let's discuss more later today if needed.)
