Hi,

I am Rafael from Ecuador currently living in Argentina. I would be back
to Quito on June after living 2 and half years in Buenos Aires. I came
here to study a master on Computer Security. As part of the masters I
did a research about the Snowden Documents in Spanish.[1] Now I am
working in my master thesis about "Privacy and Anonymity with Free
Software".

I have been using Tor and learning about it since 2012. In 2013 after
the Snowden revelations we organized an event call "Minga por la
Libertad Tecnológica" in Quito. There where some Tor developers and
Orchid, the java implementation of Tor was released.[2]

During my time in Buenos Aires I started to teaching about tools such as
Tor, OTR, Ricochet, PGP and Tails. I have published the presentations
that can help others with CC BY SA.[3] Those training sessions where
organize together with some Free Software Cooperatives here in Buenos Aires.

Now we are working in a project witch we plan to launch soon. It would
consist of a website with information related to privacy and anonymity,
and .onion forum for support and on-line training courses. The website
with basic information and the onion forum should be ready for FLISOL 2018.

Learning to protect your communication in digital environment isn't
something easy. Too much things to learn and too little time to
understund. So we think that if can install Tor Browser, bookmark the
onion forum we could continue from there.

I follow the tor-talk list since 2013, however I wasn't aware of this
others mailing list. I also subscribe to community and training lists.
However I find interesting to have a Global South mailing list so that
is why I introduce my self in this mailing list first.

I am close to my 40s and I don't to live in sourville world for the rest
of my life. I don't that for my children either. I believe that Free
Software with cryptography are really important for a free society. I
think Tor is one of the most important projects. So I think I should get
more involve with this project.

Best regards,

Rafael
