Hi everyone,
A few of us have drafted this blog comment policy to help with comment moderation and responses. We'd like to get some feedback from the community before we make it official. Please take a look and give feedback on the pad by January 18: https://pad.riseup.net/p/tor-blog-comment-policy-draft
Thanks!

I did an edit for readability: I split long sentences, and tried to use common English words. Simple English helps people who don't know many English words, and people who speak different English dialects.
I made one substantial change:
From:
Comments in another language can be responded to in the language used in the post.
To:
You can respond to comments in the language used in the comment, or the language used in the post.
I think we should respond to comments in the same language as the comment, if we know it. But if we want to use the same language for all responses, please feel free to change it to:
You should respond to comments in the language used in the post.

Hi Alison, all,
If you’re interested, the blog comment policy I wrote can be found here: https://www.benthamsgaze.org/contribution-policy/
Some of my one might not be relevant (e.g. I wanted the option to re-publish comments in an archival format). There’s also setting up the expectation that the moderator doesn’t have to get drawn into discussion over why a comment was deleted, which is sometimes helpful. A non-obvious point that might be worth considering is whether the moderator has the right to retain a published comment when the comment’s purported author asks for it to be removed. On occasion, someone asks for a comment to be removed but doing so would interfere with an important discussion, so I would like to have the option to keep the comment in such a case.
Best wishes, Steven
