=> How would you like to see the space in the future?
[..]
If it easier you can also reply/add to the following questions: (Half of them require a quick [yes|no|$option] only)
- How do you use the space right now?
2-3 times a week for main and side projects.
- What do you like in it's current state?
It's focused on doing work.
- What do you not like in it's current state?
Sometimes people forget to clean up.
- How would you like to use the space in the future? - How would you like to have others using the space in the future?
I think the current uses are nice, I don't see the need for major changes (in terms of use).
- Whats your deepest wish for the space? - Whats your DON'T for the the space? - Would you like to see more/less $things/$people?
More people doing interesting and useful work.
- How to you find it that the space hosts ppl overnight? - Do you want to have more/less often guests hosted?
The current rate is fine. More is also OK.
- Would you like to see the kitchen more in use, or not?
It's OK at the moment.
- Would you like to have more tools / hands-on-working area?
I personally don't need it, people can already use the existing tables to do light hardware work, and I think anything more complicated would require a separate room for air / sound insulation and we probably can't do this.
- Would you like to have more/less events, where it gets crowded?
It's OK at the moment. More events in the evenings would also be OK, because I don't use the space during those times. More events in the days that use up half the space (so I can work in the other half) would also be OK.
- Would you like to move more towards "hackspace"?
Probably not, there are already hackspaces in Berlin.
- Would you like to move more towards "office space"?
Probably not, this sounds too restrictive.
- Would you like to move more towards "coworking space"?
I thought we are already a co-working space. I certainly would not like having bullshit-startup hipsters around, if that's what you meant.
- Would you like to have a combination of 2 or 3 of the above?
Being more like a social hackspace like c-base in the evenings is also OK, but I would not like people coming into the space during the day time just to play video games.
- Would you like to see ppl there working on $RandomTech, or rather only/mainly on stuff for-the-better-world?
I think there's a fine line here and it's hard to precisely specify this in advance. Sometimes people do stuff that will make the world better but they don't realise it, and sometimes people do bullshit stuff that they say will make the world better but is really just bullshit.
- Would you like to see onionspace as a community, or rather not? - If community, what kind, what kind not?
I think this is best answered later when there are more people using the space regularly to potentially call it a "community". The aim should be to focus on some topic, then hope that a community grows around it, rather than just "trying to build a community".
- What do you think about an "open day" for newbies?
It depends on what we're advertising to newbies. What do you have in mind?
- What other questions could be added?
[..]
I think people answering these questions should consider the fact that Moritz's foundation is paying ~€700-800 a month for the space. Private empty spaces are nice, and I also enjoy being alone in the space, but I think it would be better for other people also to be able to take advantage of these resources, and use them for something productive.
