 jim197 (original poster):  Is this still an issue?  Does it still occur
 with Tor Browser 4.0?

 To capture some browser log messages on Vista with Tor Browser 4.0:

 1. Start a Command Prompt (cmd.exe) and cd to Tor Browser\Browser (the
 folder that contains firefox.exe).

 2. At the command prompt, type: firefox -console -jsconsole

 A new console window should be opened as the browser starts up.  Copy all
 of the log lines that are output there and paste them into this ticket.

 If nothing interesting is produced, we may need to have you edit your
 browser's prefs.js file to enable more Torbutton and Tor Launcher logging.
